I like to think what would have happened in an alternative reality, if gay marriage had been allowed when I was young and gay relationships were treated just the same as anyone else’s.
I’m sure i would have married Ron at a very young age. I would have gone to college anyway, but he wouldn’t because school bored him and he had a problem with “authority”, as they used to say.
He wouldn’t have become a famous rock star or model or anything like that, but almost certainly he would have been a mechanic. That’s what he liked to do and he was one of those guys who had all of his own tools and all that.
Eventually he would have opened up his own garage. I often wonder how things would have worked out between me and him, but he generally thought that a lot of the people I went to college with were snobby, stuck-up assholes.
Well, I’ll never know because that’s just not how things worked out at all.
